The Stretch Ceiling Method

A stretch ceiling is a taut PVC or fabric membrane that installs on a slim aluminum perimeter track — typically 1.5 to 3 inches below the concrete slab. That thin plenum is exactly what a concrete ceiling has always been missing.
Speakers and wiring mount to the concrete above. The membrane hides everything below. Flush-mount grilles sit perfectly level with the ceiling surface, and invisible speakers disappear entirely behind an acoustically transparent membrane.

Invisible Speakers Behind a Perforated Membrane
Sonance Invisible Series, Amina, and Stealth Acoustics install directly on the concrete slab above the ceiling. A micro-perforated stretch membrane hides them completely — the room looks like a flat white ceiling but plays full-range sound. Same idea contractors have been doing behind drywall for years, but far cleaner and, critically, serviceable.
Acoustically Transparent Membranes

The invisible speaker mounts to the concrete slab above the stretch ceiling. Sound passes through a micro-perforated acoustically transparent membrane — imperceptible to the eye, but engineered to let audio pass through without coloration. From the floor, the ceiling reads as one seamless architectural plane.

Mounted directly to the concrete slab
The speaker driver and back-box fasten to the structural ceiling above, isolated from the membrane. Nothing touches or hangs from the stretch ceiling itself.

Our installation process
Design & Acoustic Layout
We map your room for stereo imaging, Dolby Atmos coverage, or whole-home distribution. We select the speaker series (Sonos, Sonance, Klipsch, Bose, JBL, B&W) and confirm the exact positions before touching the ceiling.
Speaker & Wire Prep on the Concrete
Speakers and low-voltage wire mount directly to the concrete slab or to a lightweight furring frame — no cutting the slab. All runs are terminated cleanly at the amplifier or streaming zone.
Stretch Ceiling Frame Installation
A slim aluminum perimeter track is installed 1.5–3 inches below the concrete. This is where the stretch membrane will lock in — no dust, no demo, no ceiling height loss compared to a drywall build-down.
Membrane + Speaker Integration
For flush-mount speakers, we template the exact locations and heat-install the PVC membrane around each speaker with reinforced rings. For invisible speakers, the entire membrane covers them and you never see hardware again.
Tune & Calibrate
We power everything up, calibrate levels and EQ (Sonos Trueplay, Denon/Marantz Audyssey, or a custom tune for high-end amps), and hand you a ceiling that looks like a perfect blank surface but sounds like a concert hall.
